Letter from the President

Lisa Boesen | Published on 6/15/2025
Thank you for a wonderful 2024-25 dance season!  We have much to be thankful for, including record guest attendance and over 100 sponsors who support the club's financial base. With your help, we are starting our 36th season as the premier social ballroom dance club in Northern Colorado, bringing exciting changes while maintaining our “vibe” of not only having a good time but also enjoying a great dance and music community!

Why? Because we love to dance! We love our amazing local bands, and we want you to have an outstanding experience at every event!
What’s NEW!

NONPROFIT STATUS CHANGE

We are now officially a 501c3 educational charitable nonprofit organization! As many of our current sponsors know, for 35 years, Goodtimes Dance Club was a 501(c)7 private social club. This designation began to create limitations for the club’s growth and sustainability. A year of patience and hard work of communicating with the IRS paid off and we received the designation mid - May. This transition will have very positive implications for rental space pricing, collaborations, and finances, and create a framework for our future success.

NEW BANDS!

We are adding two new bands to the upcoming season, bringing exciting new sounds to our dances!

Flatiron Jazz Orchestra – Rated “Best Big Band in Denver” by CBS Local, Flatirons Jazz Orchestra is a traditional 18-piece big band.  FJO authentically recreates the great Swing-Era dance music of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Gene Krupa, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Diane Schuur, Buddy Rich, and more. They have a great mix of standard ballroom dance genres from foxtrot and rumba to tango.

John Mills Orchestra – John Mills started the JMO in Greeley in 2000, and his commitment to producing high-quality swing, jazz, and big band music is unwavering. He arranges a considerable portion of the group's music, giving a fresh perspective to the timeless standards you know and love. John has been a fixture in the Greeley community for decades and has amassed an extensive music library, enabling the JMO to perform for dances, special events, church services and concerts, fundraisers, and community celebrations.

PRICE INCREASE

Unfortunately, yes, to accommodate increasing costs, we are increasing our pricing.
Sponsor Membership will increase from $130 to $150 per person
Guest fees will increase from $20 to $25/dance
Students will increase from $5 to $10/dance

A LITTLE CHANGE, A LOT OF LOVE

At this time, sponsorship covers 60% of our operating expenses and aids us in launching our next dance season in good financial standing. By becoming a Sponsor Member, our sponsors will realize a 40% savings on 10 dances AND support our club. Sponsors receive 10 dances for the price of six. Other benefits include permanent badges, quick entrance to the dance, and access to some other dance projects your board is working on with the community.

Phase I of our sponsorship campaign started at the June dance.

Phase II begins June 15th and ends July 31st. New or renewing sponsors will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to the Love and All That Jazz event next February, 2026. Love and All That Jazz is an incredible annual evening gala with the Foothills Symphonic Band, and we are proud to partner with them to provide exceptional dancing to the community.

Renew or become a sponsor by July 31st, and you will be entered into a drawing for this two-ticket bundle for a fabulous evening of music and dance with the Foothills Symphonic Band.

Did you join or renew at the June dance? Good news! You will be entered again as well!

Not sure about the Sponsorship financial commitment? The “pay as you go” guest option will always be available to attend the dances you want to enjoy!

Your all-volunteer board wants every dance to be an outstanding occasion to learn dancing, build your dancing skills, and experience the thrill of dancing to highly skilled big bands. That is our purpose and mission: To provide dance education and promote traditional big-band and ballroom social dancing in Northern Colorado.

There will be more exciting things happening this next season. However you attend, as a sponsor or as a guest, we love having you in our dance community!

Thank you again for your love and support!

Let's Dance!
